Florida roofing codes are some of the strictest building and roofing codes in the country. Many of the Florida building and roofing codes were developed to protect building owners from excessive roof damage in the event of hurricanes. Each Florida roofing code approval is related to a certain installation condition and requires specific roofing installation techniques outlined in the approval documents. Florida has High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) and non-HVHZ building code approvals. Union has roofing products and building code approvals for use in both HVHZ and non-HVHZ types of areas. If you live in a HVHZ designated county, it is important to note which building and roofing code approval level is required for your given location. Your metal roofing installer should also be knowledgeable in the HVHZ Florida building codes.
